“Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” John 21: 25
This verse sums up my thoughts concerning our family’s recent trial. Although it was not easy, there was no end to the things the Lord did for us, the ways He made His presence known, and the encouragement He spoke to our hearts through His Word.
I am still very tired, and have needed some quiet time just to process all that happened. I plan to post more in the coming days about how we saw the Lord working during these past two weeks.
Let me start by giving Him the glory for being a sure refuge in time of trial. The events we have gone through are the kind that every mother fears. Yet, as in other trials now long past, the Lord proved that He is more than a match for every circumstance we face.
When I lie awake at night, fretting about “What if” scenarios (just as I was at this time last week!), I never imagine God in the midst of the frightening event. But when the “What if” scenario becomes reality, He is always there.
He is there comforting, intervening on our behalf, rallying His people, ministering through His Spirit, applying His Word, and working all things together for our good. Nothing that happens to me will ever be as bad as what I could imagine, because His Presence makes all the difference.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
Dear Molly and family,
I am always encouraged by Christians when they “get it.” I am referring to the ability to see their trials as something they wouldn’t choose to do own their but they give GOD the honor for being in their midst and allowing them. Oh, the benefits in our spiritual walk when we can do this!
It was nice to have your husband give updates as well!
I do hope and pray that you gain strength very soon.
God bless!
Deborah
Oh, Molly, the picture of God in the midst of the What-Ifs is astounding. I can’t say I ever included him in those thoughts. I eagerly await hearing more about His faithfulness and love for you during this time.
