Gingerbread houses

Gingerbread houses

We had so much fun building Gingerbread houses with grandma today! The older boys did a great job. I was pleased with their creativity and their patient attitudes. Some of the children had beautiful candy cane trees for their houses, but there weren’t enough for my boys to get any. I know they wanted them, but I was so grateful that they all had a good attitude and didn’t complain about not getting one!
The houses were so beautiful and looked so yummy. It was a shame that little C. had to stay home for his nap. I decided to take him out to get supplies and make his own gingerbread house tonight. We printed directions for an easy graham cracker house that we found online and went out to get the supplies. When we got home we put the house together. He wasn’t happy when we had to put it in the fridge to set. He wanted to eat it right away, without any decorations on it! Later tonight when we got it back out I gave him a whole bag of candy, marshmallows and pretzels and told him to dump it all out on the table. When he saw all that yummy candy, his eyes lit up. He looked at me in his darling way and said, “I’m really happy about this mommy. Thank you!”
It was special to have time alone with him. We had lots of fun. I think he popped as much candy in his mouth as he put on the building!
