Loving One Another

“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing. Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.”
2 Thessalonians 1: 3-4

I want to boast about the perseverance, faith and love of God’s Church. I have certainly been thanking Him for the way they have made His love tangible to me this week.

K has been complaining of severe back and side pain for several days now. He had 6 X-rays on Monday, which showed no broken bones. Yesterday morning he went back to the Dr. for a checkup, and ended up at the hospital for tests which kept us there until midnight last night.

We are still waiting for test results to reveal exactly what is wrong with him, and hopefully what the cause was, but for now we know that he has a large abscess in his back. At the moment, he is being treated with antibiotics and pain medication. On Monday the Dr. will decide if anything else is required.

Monday morning I posted a prayer request about K on a Yahoo group for Tapestry of Grace curriculum users. Since that time, I have been inundated with messages that people are praying for us.

Perfect strangers have written words like these:

“Here is my cell phone number. I’m a nurse. Call me anytime, day or night.”

“Still praying for you. This was the first email I was looking for today. Thanks for keeping us updated in the midst of your storm.”

and many more messages from women I have never met to let us know that people were praying for K, for me, for our family, and for all the medical professionals who would come across our path.

We were also blessed by the prayer and physical support of our church family and other friends. They ministered to us in the midst of this trial, caring for the other children, offering to help in any way needed and praying.

These faithful disciples love the Lord, and they showed it by loving us. And as they expressed their love for Him, He used it to express His love for us.

“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
