Notebooking

Last year our 3rd child felt sad when the school year drew to an end. It seemed like he had been working hard all year, but he didn’t have much to show for it. His math and handwriting worksheet pages weren’t very interesting, and his drawings and coloring pages were scattered in different places around the house.

He won’t need to feel that way this year, because we added something new to our homeschool: Notebooking! It has been great fun and a wonderful way for the children to share what they have learned. I love the fact that they have notebooks full of their own writing and art work, all about the topics we’ve been studying this year.

We have really enjoyed using a lot of the resources at Notebooking Pages. Deb’s articles helped me get started, and we’ve used many of her free history and science pages. I’ve also enjoyed the Notebooking sets that I have purchased from Deb, especially the North American Birds set, which is our family’s favorite.

I wish I could have listened to an audio workshop like the one Cindy Rushton does when I was starting out with Notebooking. I’m not very crafty, and for some reason, this simple tool kind of baffled me in the beginning.
