The Well

Yesterday as I was out running errands, a refrain of music caught my ear. It was Caedmon’s Call singing “The Fountain”.

I was surprised to find that one moment I was listening to the music, and the next I was crying. The words cut straight to the heart.

I go to the fountain, I go to the well
I hear in the waves the echoes of His voice saying,
“Peace, be still”.
My hands are worn, my lips are sore and dry until
I go to the fountain and I’m filled

In that instant, I realized how tired and crabby I have been this week. More importantly, I realized why.

“Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
