what I’m thinking about these days…

 

These past several months have been an encouraging time in the Evert household. The Lord has been convicting and encouraging us in so many areas! Here’s a glimpse into what I’ve been thinking about these days…

* The family is the primary place where evangelism and discipleship should take place. When we think of sharing the Gospel and making disciples of all nations, we need to start in the home with the arrows God has placed in our quiver. It is wrong to expend the best of our talents and the most of our time and energy on serving people we barely know to the neglect of our dear ones, our family!

* Our vision needs to be multi-generational. It is not enough for my own children to love Christ, I want my grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on to know him. I need to be intentionally discipling my children to walk with Christ and training them to teach their own children to do the same. This probably won’t happen “by accident”. We need to be intentional about it.

* I have been convicted that education has become an idol for our family. It is an idol when I think to myself, “We only have time for either math or devotions…better do math”. My children often ask “Why do we need to do this?” When I say, “So you can go to college and get a good job!” that shows how shallow my thinking is. We need to be educated so we can be
